An Sporran Darts Club

The An Sporran Dart Club is the oldest active steel dart club in Vienna and is also number 2 in Austria behind the Linzer Darts Club (LDC)

The club's purpose, nomen est omen, is of course to promote and practice the game of darts and has done so with great success for over 40 years.

As a founding member of the Austrian Darts Association , several well-known darts personalities and professionals have already emerged who have, among other things, been able to represent the national team internationally and have achieved a number of successes.

Non-profit association

In addition to the members' remarkable sporting achievements, the common good is also in the association's statutes and at the forefront of the organization! For this purpose, events of various sizes are organized several times a year. For example, the Crowns Cup charity tournament in favor of the SOS Children's Village. Or the annual carnival tournament, where substantial sums were donated to the benefit of Austrian child protection in the name of the association Die Möwe .

An Sporran, the name

When we first came into contact with the club, we thought that Sporran was a Viennese dialect word and had already searched through relevant dictionaries. In reality, the sporran is of course the small bag that is worn over the front of the Scottish kilt. Scottish culture is decisive for the historical development of darts and is also reflected in the form of the sporran in the club's logo.

What would a darts club be without a club premises? The Viennese pub Crown & Sword in the 2nd district of Vienna offers the club accommodation. A modern pub in the heart of Vienna where every darts enthusiast is welcome. There you can prove your skills and practice as a club member or as a darts novice.
